Picasa has a great all-round feature set. Excellent web-integration options. Comes with a nice lightbox-style stand alone picture viewer.
Picasa is a great tool for managing your photo and image collections. The user interface is set-up towards simplicity, it’s very easy to pick up.
A great choice for people without too much technical experience, but want something to organise their photos more easily.
Picasa also has many features for more advanced users, that have become almost expected from photo organising/viewer software.
These include features such as batch renaming, colour correction options and Red eye removal.
Picasa also goes over and above what most other software in this category offers, and gives you some nice web and blog integration options also
Picasa is good, but may not be for everyone. It's a perfect choice for people with less technical experience, and those from a more tech-savvy background will also enjoy the features that Picasa offers, but you may get annoyed by some aspects of it.
I have used Picasa for quite a while, but am looking for something more tailored to advanced user/photographer needs.
But for a free application Picasa is well worth investing some of your time to help organize and edit your photo collection.
